McIvor Construction Management partnered with McTamney’s, one of Toronto’s most iconic businesses, to relocate and reconstruct their flagship retail store at 837 Danforth Avenue. The new space, situated in a high-traffic area near Greektown, required significant planning and structural modifications to suit the unique needs of the client’s operation — including secure vault space and custom display areas.
The relocation involved more than a simple interior update. McIvor CM oversaw substantial demolition and reconstruction, including the removal of the existing floor slab and installation of a new, reinforced concrete vault designed for security and longevity.
Every aspect of the build — from floor systems to ceiling infrastructure — was coordinated with specialty trades to accommodate McTamney’s requirements. The existing building conditions posed layout and sequencing challenges, all of which were resolved through close collaboration with engineers and ownership.
As a retail environment focused on customer interaction and secure handling of high-value items, the layout demanded careful planning. McIvor CM worked closely with the McTamney’s team to review and refine millwork designs, ensuring optimal functionality while preserving the character of the brand.
