Overview

McIvor Construction Management completed a full main lobby and entrance renovation on Yorkville Avenue, located in one of Toronto’s most prestigious and high-profile neighbourhoods. The project focused on elevating the building’s street presence while modernizing functionality, safety, and accessibility for residents and visitors.

From structural upgrades to refined finishes, the revitalized entrance delivers a polished first impression that aligns with the quality and expectations of the property.

Structural Canopy and Exterior Enhancements

A major component of the renovation was the installation of a new architectural canopy supported by 30-foot-long structural steel beams. These large structural elements required careful coordination, engineered sequencing, and precise installation within a tight urban footprint.

The new canopy provides both visual impact and practical weather protection, significantly enhancing the arrival experience at the building.

Modernized Lobby and Building Systems

The interior lobby was fully refreshed with new finishes and upgraded building systems. Automatic entry door systems were installed to improve accessibility and daily traffic flow, while new mechanical and electrical upgrades ensured long-term performance and reliability.

Design coordination meetings and detailed planning allowed all systems and finishes to integrate seamlessly, creating a clean, modern, and durable environment.

Safety, Access, and Logistics Management

Working at an active main entrance presented unique challenges. Pedestrian safety was a top priority throughout construction, requiring controlled access routes, clear signage, and ongoing coordination with building management and residents.

Despite restricted access and complex logistics, McIvor CM maintained schedule control and delivered the project efficiently. The board of directors and stakeholders were highly satisfied with the final result and the professionalism of the delivery.
